The most cost-effective way to ship a car is via open transport, which is how most of our customers ship their autos. These car trailers are open, which are much like the ones you can often see on the road. If the car you're shipping is your daily-driver, open shipping is the way to go. If you're moving a classic, vintage or restored vehicle you will likely opt for enclosed transport, which protects your vehicle from the elements during its journey to your new home. Generally, enclosed transport is about 50% to twice as expensive as open transport. We usually recommend open transport to our customers to help save you money on your next long distance move.
Seasonality is a big factor in car shipping pricing. Generally, the cost increases in the Winter as the snowbirds make their way down South for the colder months. Costs can also increase in the Summer months as demand creeps back up and many people take the opportunity to move in good weather. Off-peak moving can save you hundreds if you time it right, and book your car move as early as possible.
Car shipping costs around $1.96/mile for short distances, less than 500 miles, or at least $600 for a 300-mile trip. Medium distances can run about $0.93/mile (500-1500 miles) or just under $950 for 1,000 miles. Long distances, greater than 1500 miles can be around $0.60/mile. There are many factors that go into the cost to ship your car, such as the current demand for shippers and the distance and route your car must travel. The make, model and condition of your car are also factored in.
The majority of vehicles will be picked up within 1-5 business days of your first available date. Your vehicle will be taken on a shared freight carrier, and our car shipping partners need this time to schedule your pickup along with the other cars on your route.
You pay nothing today or when you lock in your price. Once we schedule and dispatch a carrier to your home, we provide you with the estimated delivery dates and charge a small down payment on your credit card. The remaining balance is paid to your driver on delivery via credit card or certified funds.
You are allowed up to 100 pounds of personal belongings in the storage area of your automobile. The front cab and other parts of your vehicle should be empty. Our freight carriers do not have license or insurance to ship household goods across state lines.
The Department of Transportation's Motor Carrier Division requires insurance for all carries shipping vehicles. Your car carrier will have a minimum of $250,000 cargo and $750,000 in general liability insurance coverage. On pickup, your drive will note every ding scratch and dent on your automobile and take pictures. Upon delivery, these notes will be presented and any new dings, dents or scratches should be annotated on that form upon delivery, which is to be signed by both parties.

Quick and professional. No complaints. Moved one bedroom to another one bedroom with a ~40 minute drive and on the third floor (no elevator), and when all was said and done the whole move took about two hours. Certainly worth the price!
